Diversity and Bias in the Workplace
Course description
Diversity and bias can be challenging topics but they’re relevant to every aerospace team member and leader. This course will leave you substantially better equipped to improve your current workplace environment for your team or employees to help all staff experience a workplace that’s more accepting and is home to fewer harmful biases. As a result, every team member will feel they can make valuable work contributions and develop professionally and personally. The course is based on the latest research in the relevant areas of diversity and bias and promises a rich interactive learning experience. You’ll come out with increased confidence in your ability to take action.
Learning objectives

Understand the differences between diversity and inclusiveness—why are these terms important to your employer, and to you as an employee and as a citizen?

Learn things you can do to become more inclusive.

Gain a better understanding of biases, including generational biases.

Improve your ability to contain those biases that feed stereotypes and prejudicial behaviour and actions.

Improve your consciousness of racism and oppression.
-
Improve your knowledge of how to respond to your own racial biases.

Learn what is appropriate action to take if you see an incident of racism in the workplace.

One 90-minute facilitated online session

Register and complete your course by March 15, 2023 and your course fee will be $0.
Employees— Share with your employer that you are taking the course! Send the link to your employer by email to discuss it with them.
E-learning duration:
2 weeks
Participants will receive e-learning credentials 2 weeks prior to selected session date.

New students
Registering with COAST only takes a few simple steps.

Fill out the sign-up form.

You will receive a verification email with a link. Click on the link to access your account.

Go to the main dashboard and find the Ministry form.

Download it, fill it out, save it, and upload the saved and completed form in the Upload tab.

You will receive a confirmation email that it has been accepted (this may take up to two business days). Once that is done you may enrol in the courses of your choosing.

To enrol, select the Catalog tile on the dashboard and choose your course dates and times.
Returning students
Go to oac.myabsorb.com and log in with your credentials. Check the Catalog tile on the main dashboard to find this course. Select it and click Enrol.
Employers— Enhance and upgrade employee skills. Recognize and foster employee development. Enrol your company with COAST! Your company may register employees on any of the courses offered at no charge – as long as courses are completed by March 15, 2023.
PLEASE NOTE: Registration is not considered complete unless OAC receives the completed Ministry participation form.
